A Quiet Decision
I would rather walk away than stay where there is no love and no respect.
Staying in a place where I am tolerated but not valued, present but not appreciated, included but not truly seen — feels heavier than leaving.
Love and respect are not luxuries. They are the basic conditions for any meaningful connection. Without them, proximity becomes convenience, and connection becomes performance. Over time, that kind of environment slowly erodes self-worth.
I do not walk away out of anger.
I do not leave to punish anyone.
I leave because I refuse to shrink.
Remaining somewhere that asks me to compromise my dignity, suppress my voice, or accept indifference as normal is a quiet form of self-abandonment. And I am no longer willing to pay that price.
Letting go can feel painful. But sometimes distance is not loss — it is protection. It is the choice to preserve your sense of self rather than lose it in silence.
I would rather walk alone with integrity than stay surrounded by absence.
