Wei Zexi Case” (Defendant: Baidu)魏则西案”（被告：百度）

In April 2014, Wei Zexi, a sophomore majoring in computer science at Xidian University, was diagnosed with advanced synovial sarcoma, with a five-year survival rate of 20%-50%. Wei Zexi, who was seeking medical treatment everywhere, and his parents found the No. 2 Hospital of the Beijing Armed Police Corps in Toutiao through a Baidu search. Doctors call it "Stanford technology" and "guarantee for 20 years". Wei Zexi received 4 "biological immunotherapy" treatments here, spending more than 200,000 yuan. His condition did not improve, and even spread to the lungs.

On April 12, 2016, Wei's father confirmed the death of 21-year-old Wei Zexi on Zhihu. Before his death, Wei Zexi left a message questioning Baidu's bidding for medical information and hospitals' exaggerated efficacy and false propaganda. The hospital is a well-known "third-class hospital" in Baidu search, but it adopts the DC-CIK cell immunotherapy technology that has been eliminated.

Afterwards, many people pointed their fingers at Baidu. As a large-traffic Internet tool, it artificially interfered with the search results by using the bidding ranking method criticized by the world, making it easier for evildoers to do evil. They also believe that Baidu should bear the corresponding legal responsibility for Wei Zexi's death. Others believe that legislation should be made to punish the behavior of search engines for publishing false information and establish a corresponding supervision system.

However, some people pointed out that the main responsibility in this case lies with the hospital, the surgeon and the government regulatory department. Baidu is only a commercial organization and has no moral and legal responsibility to ensure the authenticity of the information.

2014年4月，就读于西安电子科技大学计算机专业的大二学生魏则西被检查出患有晚期滑膜肉瘤，五年生存率为20%-50%。四处求医的魏则西以及其父母通过百度搜索中找到了头条的武警北京总队第二医院。医生称“斯坦福技术”、“保20年”。魏则西在此接受4次“生物免疫疗法”治疗，花费20余万元。病情却未见好转，甚至出现了肺部扩散的情况。

2016年4月12日，魏父在知乎上证实了21岁的魏则西去世。魏则西生前曾留言质疑百度竞价排名医学信息和医院夸大疗效虚假宣传。该医院在百度搜索中是著名“三甲医院”所采用的却是已被淘汰的DC-CIK细胞免疫治疗技术。

之后，很多人将矛头指向百度，作为一个大流量的互联网工具，它用世人诟病的竞价排名的方式，人为地干涉了搜索结果，使得恶人能够更加方便地作恶。也认为百度应该为魏则西的死承担相应的法律责任，还有人认为应该立法对搜索引擎发布虚假信息这种行为进行惩处，建立相应的监管体制。

但也有人指出，本案主要责任在于医院、主刀医师和政府监管部门，百度只是一个商业性的组织，没有保证信息真实的道德和法律责任。
