At that time, Li Zhongkui was still called Li Zhongkui. When he was 14 years old, he walked 80 kilometers alone from his hometown of Huanggang to Wuchang—just to study.

When filling out the elementary school registration form, he filled in "fourteen" in the "name" column-that is actually his age. The common interest in differential geometry brought the hearts of the two young people closer quickly. Gu Chaohao, gentle and elegant, well-trained in ancient prose, can blurt out poems; Hu Hesheng, cheerful and talkative, likes painting and photography. In addition to learning from each other, they also had endless topics to talk about.

After graduating from graduate school, Hu Hesheng also stayed in the school to work. In 1952, when the colleges and departments were adjusted, she and Gu Chaohao both followed Su Buqing to Fudan University.

In 1957, after seven years of "long-distance love running", the love seeds planted in Zhejiang University blossomed and borne fruit in Fudan University.

In November 1996, Mr. Gu Chaohao celebrated his 70th birthday. The 94-year-old Su Buqing smiled and was very excited. He held Gu Chaohao in one arm and Hu Hesheng in the other, and said kindly, "Today I want to bless you two! You two got married I'm still a matchmaker!"

In 1958, the left-leaning trend of denial and criticism of basic research disturbed the mathematics world, and Hu Hesheng was also affected. She became a typical example of "walking the white road". Someone in the school threatened to pull out Hu Hesheng's "white flag". Even when Hu Hesheng proposed to visit relatives in the Soviet Union, some people opposed it. Fortunately, the school leaders resisted the pressure and approved her trip to Moscow.

When Gu Chaohao saw Hu Hesheng at the Moscow railway station, he was taken aback: "Why are you so thin?" She didn't want her husband who was studying hard to share the pressure and bitterness for her. Once settled, the young couple plunged into the library.

In just one month of family leave, she managed to read several academic monographs in English and Russian on general relativity and elastic mechanics. And with the help of Gu Chaohao, he seized an opportunity to have an unforgettable academic talk with Gu Chaohao's mentor Rashevsky.

In 1959, Gu Chaohao returned to his motherland after being exceptionally awarded a Ph.D. in Physical and Mathematical Sciences from Moscow University. From 1960 to 1965, Gu Chaohao entered the academic harvest season.

But unfortunately, when the "Cultural Revolution" came, Su Buqing was labeled as a "reactionary academic authority", and Gu Chaohao was listed as a "revisionist". I endured silently, cleaning toilets, poking sewers, climbing roofs, etc., doing everything, and doing it seriously.

Hu Hesheng was also struggling at home. The "rebels" forced her to expose Gu Chaohao. She was very stubborn: "If I want to talk about Gu Chaohao before liberation, I didn't know him at all. He joined the revolution at the age of 11 and joined the party at the age of 14. It's clearly written in the file, you can check his file!"

At that time, Gu Chaohao was locked in the student dormitory. Hu Hesheng found their caring students and asked the students to pass the note quietly. Soon, the reply slip came, which said: "I have nothing." Seeing the five words written by Gu Chaohao in a hurry, Hu Hesheng felt a little relieved, but his eyes were red.

Soon, the situation gradually eased, and the supervision was relaxed. Hu Hesheng went to see Gu Chaohao whenever he had a chance, to talk and cheer him up.

A loving couple, members of both academic departments

In 1976, the motherland finally began to set things right, and the spring of science came. At this time, Gu Chaohao was already 50 years old. But he soon made new international leading achievements in several research fields of mathematics. In 1980, he was elected as an academician (academic member) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Hu Hesheng is also fruitful in his own research field. In 1991, Hu Hesheng was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, becoming the first female academician in Chinese mathematics.

In the simple home of Gu Chaohao and Hu Hesheng, there are two writing desks in one study room, Gu Chaohao's desk faces the sun, and Hu Hesheng's desk wall. The two academicians study side by side here. Usually, the two have their own research areas, but when they cooperate, they often have a tacit understanding and produce results one after another. Here is a story: In June 1974, Nobel Prize winner and physicist Yang Zhenning went to Fudan University to give a report on gauge field theory and suggested joint research, which involved a series of complex modern mathematical problems. To Yang Zhenning's surprise, a few days later, Gu Chaohao and Hu Hesheng came up with two internationally leading research results. This made Yang Zhenning very happy, and he warmly invited them to study in the United States again and again.

Gu Chaohao and Hu Hesheng are also happy to let young people share their love stories. In 1992, a newspaper in Anhui tried to issue a trial edition. Zhu Guanghua from the University of Science and Technology of China was invited to write an article entitled "Forty Years of Traveling in Shuyuan and We Are Together in the Same Boat, Deeper Love". At the age of 11, the war of resistance broke out in full swing. His youth experienced the baptism of the national liberation struggle. His party age began when he was under 14 years old. His self-encouragement to himself throughout his life is: to take the interests of the country and the nation as his own responsibility, and to pursue throughout his life is to make his motherland prosperous and strong.

In fact, the fate of Gu Chaohao and Hu Hesheng, a patriotic mathematics family, is also closely related to the fate of the country and the nation.

In 1958, shortly after Gu Chaohao and Hu Hesheng got married, Gu Chaohao went to Moscow for further studies. At that time, the country was in the era of the Great Leap Forward, and intellectuals were advocated to be both popular and professional, and all business elites were classified as "walking the white professional road". Hu Hesheng thinks that she is taking a red and professional path, but it is denied by others. 李林去英国读书,选择专业之前,她特意向父亲征求意见。李四光本来建议女儿主攻“弹性力学”(Elasticity),结果秘书发信时不小心打错了一个字母,她的研究方向变成了“塑性力学”(Plasticity)。

李林以为那就是父亲的意见,阴差阳错之间,她开始涉足“物理冶金”方面的研究。

在爱情方面,李林则要比父亲“有出息”得多。她不到25岁,就认识了自己的“真命天子”。在异国他乡,某次剑桥大学的同学会上,李林和一个叫邹承鲁的男生,共同演唱了一首《松花江上》。没错,又是通过音乐,两个年轻人迅速走到一起。

邹承鲁也称得上是一个天才,22岁时从西南联大毕业,次年,他以庚子赔款公费留学总成绩第一名被剑桥录取,直接跳级攻读博士学位。

邹承鲁进入剑桥两年之后,李林也去到了那里。两人神交已久,缘悭一面,等到见了面,方才意识到对方就是彼此的“the one”。

邹承鲁长相清秀,玉树临风,颜值放到现在绝对不输小鲜肉。

早在伯明翰读硕士时,李林就对他产生好感。剑桥读博期间,李林总是向其请教物理方面的问题;而每每李林在实验室忙碌到子夜时分,邹承鲁则会送去可口的夜宵。

1948年,李林和邹承鲁喜结良缘。在英国伯恩茅斯海边,伴着海浪的鸣奏,两双年轻的臂膀,紧紧地挽在了一起。

不久,新中国成立的消息传来,这对小夫妻归心似箭。李林通过博士论文答辩的第二天,她就马不停蹄地回到了祖国。剑桥大学——这个星球上最顶级的学府,因为李林的博士学位无人领取,而陷入无限的为难。

回归祖国,李林进入原子能研究所,归到钱三强的麾下;邹承鲁则进入中国科学院生物研究所,开展研究酶学,为中国酶学和呼吸链研究奠定了基础。

动乱结束后,邹承鲁是第一个在《自然》杂志发表论文的中国科学家。除了在生物化学方面取得的成就,更加叫人称道的是,邹承鲁用毕生精力捍卫学术道德。

2021年11月份,中国科学院紫金山天文台发现了一颗小行星,经“命名委员会”批准,我们将那颗小行星命名为“邹承鲁星”。从此之后,邹承鲁的名字,以及他求真的思想,进入宇宙星空,镶上了太空星辰。

无论是李四光、李林还是邹承鲁,他们都是闲不住的人。想当年就有人曾经评价李四光说:“李老的日程表上,找不到个人的消闲时间。”

李林夫妇也继承了长辈的“劳苦命”,直到耄耋之年,夫妻仍然坚持在岗位上,忘我的工作,他们还互相吐槽说:“他(她)呀,别提啦,一休息就生病。”

为了表彰李四光家庭的贡献,国家授予他们院士的荣誉。

就像医学科学家吴阶平评价的那样:“李四光是院士,李林是院士,邹承鲁是院士,一家三人同为院士,在中国科技界仅此一家。”

他们的爱国之情、强国之志、报国之行,仍在激励着后人。

峥嵘岁月 | 胡和生和谷超豪:数学王国里的“神仙眷侣”

浙大校友胡和生院士和谷超豪院士,是师从同一位宗师的一对伉俪,50多年来,他们志同道合,风雨同舟,在共同喜爱的数学领域,携手攻克了一个又一个难题。在数学界,谷超豪,被认为继20世纪大数学家艾里·嘉当之后,第一位在无限变换拟群领域取得重要进展的人;胡和生,则是中国数学界第一位也是唯一一位女院士。

2003年,笔者参加上海温州老乡的聚会时,拜会了谷老和夫人,古稀之年的他俩,进出仍像热恋中的青年手相牵、人相依,我等煞是羡慕,直叹谷老和夫人真是数苑的“神仙眷侣”。

胡教授出身名门 父亲多才多艺

胡和生1928年出生在一个艺术世家,原籍江苏南京。祖父胡炎卿,是位国画家,擅长花鸟走兽,曾是与吴昌硕、王一亭、程瑶生齐名的沪上名家;父亲胡伯翔,既是画家、摄影家又是实业家,作品曾受艺术大师吴昌硕等赞许。上世纪40年代,胡伯翔还从事实业,曾任上海市化妆品工业同业会理事长等职。

胡和生读小学5年级那年,日军占领南京,祖父珍藏的书画和古董被洗劫一空,又因不从日寇对他的拉拢,险遭不测。胡和生就随父亲举家迁往上海。

太平洋战事后,日寇横行上海租界。当时,胡和生家居当时的上海环龙路,对街就是日军巢穴。胡家兄弟姐妹7人,女孩有5人,一家人自然胆战心惊,白天黑夜都拉上窗帘。国家不强大,人民就要受欺凌。胡和生从那时起就立志发愤读书,科学救国。

胡和生从小受艺术熏陶,画感、乐感很强。读小学和中学时,文理兼优,中学毕业后,胡和生考入上海交通大学,选攻有“自然科学之父”之称的数学,希望能够科学报国。到大学毕业时,已是上海解放。她放弃了去同济大学担任助教的机会,希望继续深造。这一年,她同时收到北京大学和浙江大学的录取通知。当时,中国微分几何创始人苏步青教授在浙大执教,因此她就选择了浙大。

姻缘始于图书室 苏老自称是媒人

而胡和生生命中的“另一半”谷超豪,早在1943年,就考入浙江大学数学系。1948年,苏步青教授留下谷超豪做了助教,两年之后,同样挚爱数学的胡和生成为苏步青的研究生。苏步青很喜欢谷超豪,他将管理图书室的“好事”交给谷超豪,以便可以“东翻西看”。结果,两个年轻人便在浙大求是园的图书室里相遇了。

50年过去了,谷超豪仍清晰记得与胡和生初次见面的情景:“那是1950年,我在数学系图书室里,偶遇胡和生,她说苏先生给了她一篇论文,有些地方没弄清楚,想让我帮她看一看。我说:好啊,论文呢?她说论文在宿舍里。她的宿舍离我办公室有十多分钟路程。当时已经是秋天,但天气依然很热,她气喘吁吁地跑去拿回来,我觉得这个小姑娘很不错,对学问肯钻研。我们共同讨论了一下,她就把论文的内容都弄清楚了。”

对微分几何的共同爱好,使得两个年轻人的心迅速靠近。谷超豪,温文尔雅,古文修养很好,能脱口成诗;胡和生,开朗健谈,喜爱绘画、摄影。他们除了切磋学问外,还有说不完的话题。

胡和生研究生毕业后也留校工作,1952年高校院系调整,她和谷超豪双双随苏步青到了复旦大学。

1957年,经过7年的“爱情长跑”,在浙大埋下的爱情种子在复旦开花结果,他们喜结连理,成了人人称羡的数苑“神仙侠侣”。

1996年11月,谷超豪先生过70岁生日,94岁的苏步青眉开眼笑,兴致极高,他一手挽着谷超豪,一手挽着胡和生,亲切地说,“今天我要给你们俩祝福!你们俩当初结婚还是我做的媒呢!”

谷超豪胡和生伉俪,笑得合不拢嘴,胡和生的脸上似乎还有一丝甜蜜的羞涩。

异国并肩攻读 “牛棚”传递纸条

1957年,新婚燕尔的谷超豪告别爱妻前往苏联莫斯科大学留学,刻苦攻读。留在国内的胡和生也埋头科研。他们之间,只能通过鸿雁传情。

1958年,否定、批判基础研究的左倾思潮干扰了数学界,胡和生也被波及,她成了“走白专道路”的典型。学校里有人扬言要拔胡和生的“白旗”。连胡和生提出赴苏联探亲,也有人反对,幸好学校领导顶住压力,批准了她的莫斯科之行。

在莫斯科火车站,谷超豪一见胡和生,就大吃一惊:“怎么瘦成这样?”胡和生淡然一笑,只字未提自己受的委曲。她不想让正在苦读的丈夫为她分担压力和辛酸。一安顿好,小夫妻就双双扎进了图书馆里。

在短短一个月的探亲假内,她硬是读完了几大本有关广义相对论、弹性力学的英、俄文学术专著。并在谷超豪的帮助下,抓住一个机会,跟谷超豪的导师拉舍夫斯基作了一次难忘的学术长谈。

1959年,谷超豪被破格授予莫斯科大学物理数学科学博士学位后,回到了祖国。1960年到1965年,谷超豪进入了学术丰收季节。

但不幸的是,“文革”来了,苏步青被打为“反动学术权威”,谷超豪被列为“修正主义分子”,大字报铺天盖地,抄家、批斗、隔离审查、强迫劳动都来了……谷超豪默默地忍受着,扫厕所、捅下水道、爬屋顶等,样样都干,而且干得认真。

胡和生在家也是艰难度日,“造反派”逼迫她揭发谷超豪,她很硬气:“要我说谷超豪解放前的事情,那时我根本不认识他。他11岁就投身革命,14岁入党,这都明明白白写在档案里,你们可以去查他的档案啊!”

当时谷超豪被关在学生宿舍,胡和生找来他们贴心的学生,让学生悄悄地递纸条过去。很快,回条来了,上面写着:“我没有什么。”看到谷超豪匆忙中写下的5个字,胡和生心里略感宽慰,但眼圈红了。

不久,形势渐见缓和,看管有所放松。胡和生一有机会就去看谷超豪,说说话,给他打打气。

一对恩爱夫妻 双双学部委员

1976年,祖国终于开始拨乱反正,科学的春天来临。此时,谷超豪已是50岁的人了。但他很快便在数学的几个研究领域接连取得了新的国际领先的成果。1980年他当选为中国科学院院士(学部委员)。

胡和生在自己的研究领域也是硕果累累。1991年,胡和生当选中科院院士,成为中国数学界第一位女院士。

在谷超豪、胡和生简朴的家中,一个书房两张写字台,谷超豪的书桌朝阳,胡和生的书桌面墙。两位院士就在这里并肩研究。平时,两人的研究领域各有侧重,但到合作时,往往十分默契,成果迭出。这里有个故事:1974年6月,诺贝尔奖得主、物理学家杨振宁到复旦大学作规范场理论报告并建议进行共同研究,这牵涉到一系列复杂的现代数学问题。让杨振宁感到意外的是,几天后,谷超豪和胡和生就拿出了两项国际领先的研究成果。这使杨振宁十分高兴,一再热情地邀请他们赴美研究。

谷超豪惬意地说:“我做的工作可以讲给她听,她做的工作可以讲给我听。我们互相理解,也可以互提问题、相互核验,这是生活中最大的乐趣!”

日常生活中,谷超豪、胡和生爱做减法:每天6点30分起床,烧些泡饭、煮个鸡蛋。8点准时开始工作。晚上则是阅读研究生的论文,几十年如一日。

有记者要为夫妇俩拍照,爱美的胡和生立刻理了理头发:“今天我头发没好好整理,衣服也不对。”谷超豪则笑盈盈地说,同样研究了一辈子数学,书画世家出身的夫人,就是懂色彩的搭配、款式的和谐,他平时的衣服都是夫人买的,他很相信夫人的品位、美感。

“我每次出席重要活动,胡和生都要关心一下我的‘行头’。只要给她的手这么一弄,总是蛮精神的。”

他们俩的身体都不算壮实。上世纪90年代,谷超豪生过两次大病。一次,差不多有三、四个月之长,半夜常会突然醒来,而后就是不能入睡等到天亮。靠着医生的精心治疗、胡和生的关爱护持,才终于挺了过来。

近十年来,谷超豪、胡和生身体欠佳,有时轮番住院,便形影不离地厮守在一起。他们的病房布置得像书房一般,病情稍有转好,就一起进入了他们的数学世界。一位倚在病床上,一位坐在椅子上,要么静静地看书,要么小声讨论着什么。

谷超豪、胡和生也乐于让年轻人分享他们的爱情故事。1992年,安徽的一家报纸试刊,请中国科大的朱光华写了篇题为《数苑共游四十年风雨同舟情更深》的文章。谷超豪、胡和生还专门从上海寄来了一张合影,作为文章的配图。这张照片上印有两行字:“一对恩爱夫妻 双双学部委员”

胡和生当选院士时,谷超豪赋诗祝贺爱妻:“苦读寒窗夜,挑灯黎明前。几何得真传,物理试新篇。红妆不需理,秀色天然研。学苑有令名,共尝艳阳天。”

数学王国“神仙侠侣”的幸福人生,洋溢诗中。

每个成功的人士后面,通常都有一个成功的幸福的家庭。天公作美,谷超豪和胡和生这两位成功的数学家,志同道合,携手并进,建立了一个幸福的和谐的家庭,数十年历经风雨而感情弥笃,且在各自的研究领域独领风骚,珠联壁合,相映成辉,造就了中国数学界一段难得的百年佳话。

相濡以沫 患难更见真情

谷超豪曾自谓,自己此生,与国家、民族的命运息息相依。

还在孩提时代,父亲就将他交托早年守寡、没有子女的婶母抚养。婶母善良的人格在他心里留下至深的影响。11岁时,抗战全面爆发。他的少年时代经历了民族解放斗争风雨的洗礼。他的党龄,从不满14岁时便已开始。他对自己一生的自勉是:以国家、民族利益为己任,一生追求,便是使自己的祖国富强起来。

其实,谷超豪和胡和生这个爱国的数学家庭之命运,也是与国家、民族的命运息息相关。

1958年,谷超豪和胡和生新婚不久,谷超豪便远赴莫斯科深造。其时国内正值大跃进年代,提倡知识分子又红又专,凡业务尖子都被划入“走白专道路”之列。胡和生自认为自己走的是又红又专的道路,却遭人否认,她研究的是纯粹数学,有人便扬言要拔她的“白旗”,令她一时百口难辩。那年她提出赴莫斯科探亲,虽然已被批准,却也有人反对,原因便是她走的是“白专道路”。学校领导慧眼识才,谷超豪14岁加入共产党,政治过硬,业务也过硬,胡和生去看望他,有何不可?于是胡和生终于如愿成行。

久别的数学家夫妇相聚在莫斯科火车站,谷超豪见到爱妻,脱口而出的第一句话:

胡和生淡然一笑。所有的委屈和辛酸都融化在夫妇重逢的喜悦之中。她不想让艰难攻关的丈夫为她分担不快。

2000年,时值初春,寒意料峭。我偕《风雨同舟肝胆情》电视教育片摄制人员去复旦大学数学所,与谷先生晤谈良久,获教多多。握手话别时,我发觉谷先生的手很凉,便说:

“天气凉了。您要多加点衣服。”

“没有关系,我刚才去晒被子,衣服穿少了一点。”一脸的恬淡。这就是我们的谷超豪院士,名闻遐迩的国际级数学大师哪!

其时,胡和生院士正生病住院。可以想见,几十年来,这对院士伉俪就是这样相濡遗墨以沫地走过来的。

巴黎和诗的故事

诗是人类智慧和感情的至高表达之一,也应该是本篇数学家伉俪故事的高潮。

记得那天关于巴黎、关于塞纳河与诗、关于露天咖啡吧和啤酒的话题,是胡和生最早主动提出的。

“好吧,就谈谈我们师生三代在巴黎相聚的那一段吧!”

谷先生和胡先生显然对那座为文学家和诗人摇篮的世界都市情有独钟,对他们师生三代在巴黎的邂逅相聚殊难忘怀。

就这样,那天,一段关于巴黎和诗的故事,由一对年届七十岁的科学家夫妇嘴里娓娓道来。

那是21年前,1982年。那一年,苏步青先生应法国著名数学家李翁斯教授之邀,在李大潜先生的陪同下来到巴黎,其时,谷超豪和胡和生夫妇也同时从德国到了巴黎。师生三代相聚在塞纳河畔,那本身就是太诗意不过的人生际遇,故事的美丽自不仅于此。那时,谷超豪和胡和生夫妇常在黄昏落日时分去巴黎圣母院一带散步,有时,就会坐在街头的露天咖啡座,沐浴着落日的余晖,轻轻地啜饮着那散发着清新泡末的法国啤酒,惬意地浏览着那变化无穷的游人和街景。90年代初,我也曾居住在临近巴黎圣母院的第5区,跟谷、胡二位深具同感的是,我知道,那一带应该说是巴黎最美的地段之一。而对于谷先生和胡先生来说,那一带又是做完研究工作后最理想的休憩所在。于是,就在那里,中国数学界素负盛名的苏门师生三代,在富有诗意的塞纳河畔,面对天地美景,以诗佐酒,互致酬答,成就了学界诗坛的一段佳话。其中,苏步青先生的那首脍炙人口的《同谷超豪、胡和生、李大潜游巴黎》就是在那段时间里写成的。诗曰:

万里西来羁旅中,朝车暮宴亦称雄。家家塔影残春雨,处处林岚初夏风。杯酒真成千载遇,远游难得四人同。无须秉烛二更候,塞纳河边夕阳红。

10年以后,1992年。又一次地,谷超豪一个人重游巴黎。在这10年间,他和夫人胡和生曾多次访问巴黎。法国同行十分重视这对中国数学家夫妇的研究工作。法国科学院还曾专程邀请谷超豪参加院士大会,在全体院士面前对他本人和他的研究工作作了介绍,在法国同行的眼里,这位了不起的中国数学家在几何方程、规范场方面都作了极为深入的研究。

1992年那一次,谷超豪仍抓紧在巴黎的逗留时间,在科研上又取得一个新的突破,他找到了高维空间的孤粒子解。那一天,他显得很兴奋,独自一人,又来到了塞纳河畔,他和夫人胡和生经常盘桓流连的巴黎圣母院那一带,也许,是一种思乡思亲情愫陡然而生;也许,是落日、晚霞,游人、街景和那扑面而来的清新空气令他触景生情;总之,他忽然想起了10年前,也是在这里,也是这样一个令人怡然而乐的黄昏,他的恩师苏先生写下的那首四人同游巴黎的诗,于是,一时间,他诗情汩汩,不能自已。

“超豪,你找一找那首诗——”那是夫人胡和生的“画外音”,显然,她对谷先生的那首诗也有一种特殊的感情。

“我能背得出。不过,我一直没有好好学过平仄,严格说来,不能叫诗。”谷先生说话时,态度和语气总是那么平和,那么谦怀若谷。

于是,这位数学大师在床褥上铺纸挥毫,为我们从容写来。

此行不觉独行苦,但忆昔行四人间;埃菲金光壮夜色,塞纳银波逐晨钟。灯影穿梭天桥下,飞车织网地道中;不羡花都繁华地,多重孤子上夜空。

数学大师也是诗人

谷超豪、胡和生的恩师苏步青的诗才在当今学界是人尽皆知的,无独有偶,他最得意的门生谷超豪,也是一位充满汩汩诗情、滔滔文才的数学奇人。其实,综观宇内,就近而言,自爱因斯坦始,凡有大成就彪柄史籍的大科学家,几乎无一不与文学音乐有不解之缘。说到底,那些镶嵌在天之涯、海之角的科学皇冠上的颗颗璀璨明珠,自是与一般毫无如诗激情的匠人辈无缘交臂的。

可以说,如同一生从来没有离开过数学研究一样,谷超豪和胡和生双宿双飞的一生也从来离不开诗,这是因为,在他们的眼里,数学就是人生,数字、符号都是充满生命活力的精灵,对着这些美妙无比的精灵,总能让谷超豪心醉神驰,不能自已,诗情勃发;而他诗作的第一读者和感受者便是他的良友爱妻胡和生。有意思的是,每每在谷超豪事业的阶段性时刻,他总会用诗和诗一般的语言精警自己,且常诵不辍。而在世人眼里,谷超豪的这些发自生命深处的诗句,又常常是文情并茂,底蕴不凡,虽反复玩味,终难忘却。

人言数无味,我道味无穷,良师多启发,珍本富精蕴。解题岂一法,寻思求百通。幸得桑梓教,终生为动容。这是他视数学为生命且不忘师恩、锐意求进的自况。

上得山丘好,欢乐含辛苦,请勿歌仰止,雄峰正相迎。这是当他处在事业突飞猛进之时对自己的自勉自励。

数苑从来思不停,穿云驰车亦有成。这是当他接任中国科技大学校长后,处校务繁忙之际仍坚持数学研究的自我写照。

人生几何学几何,不学庄生殆无边。这是他年逾七旬仍无意在事业上走下坡路的心况之表露。

其实,数学大师谷超豪和胡和生伉俪成功的众多原因中,有一点是不能忽视的,那就是他们与乃师苏步青共有的、无与伦比的数学家的诗人气质。而正是这样一种瑰丽多姿的诗人气质,令他们无数次地在国际数坛建立奇勋,在参悟自然几何的同时也在解读和演绎着美丽多姿的人生几何。

学者高雅,智者多变。人们这样评价谷超豪和胡和生。

科学界颜值天花板,“最帅院士”王德民:不正经的人才谈长相

偶像剧中的男主角,家世显赫,英俊潇洒,聪慧多金,用情专一,但因为人设太完美,在现实中很难遇到。



在中国的科学界,却偏偏存在这样的人物。

比起偶像剧里那些沉溺于风花雪月、作风幼稚的公子总裁们,他曲折的身世,博大的胸怀,反而还更增添了不一样的味道。

这个人就是被称为“科学界吴彦祖”的王德民院士。


个人认为:王院士比吴彦祖帅。

他不只是有颜值,还有超人的才华,超群的毅力,闪烁的职位,甚至还有一颗以他名字命名的星星在宇宙中闪耀。

只有了解他之后,才会明白,原来上天真的是不公平的,可以把美貌,才华,优秀的品质等全都贯注到一个人身上。

01. 盛世美颜,流传网络

在2013年,网上忽然流传一张远在几十年前的中国石油大学的报名表,全网疯狂转发,原因无他:照片上的人太帅了。



浓眉薄唇,五官立体,高糊的黑白照片也挡不住高挺的鼻梁,明明是典型的欧式轮廓,又在气质中掺杂了中国人的忠直耿介,添了几分浩然正气。

而这样的英俊洋化的容貌,要追溯到他曾担任同仁医院副院长的父亲王世贵和跟随丈夫远离家乡来到北京中央外贸学院任教的瑞士母亲文安清。



王院士的父亲出身书香世家,在那个流行留学的年代出洋深造,并结识了一位瑞士姑娘,王世贵还给她起了个优美的中文名字文安清。

两人喜结连理之后一齐回到中国,为祖国发展贡献力量。

他的父亲王世贵担任北京同仁医院副院长,而母亲文安清成为对外经贸大学的教师。



1937年,王德民院士生于河北唐山,是这个高级知识分子家庭中最小的儿子。

良好的家风培养出一门桃李,他的哥哥姐姐也都是就读名校,在各自专业领域都是拔尖人物。

顺便说一句,他的外甥朱亦兵在音乐方面颇有造诣,还是欧阳娜娜的大提琴老师。



混血的王德民可谓是从小帅到大,各个阶段都有不同的风采,从流传最广的年轻时的意气风发,到现在的沉稳儒雅。



但是,王德民院士在了解网友对他颜值的追捧之后,反而如此回应:只有不正经的人才谈长相!

毕竟在院士这里,长相是最不值一提的了,还有就是,他也曾因这中西混合的外表经历过不少磨难坎坷。

02.才貌兼备,坎坷半生

天赋极高的王德民从小学习成绩就好,虽然家里父母交流都用英文,导致小时候不识汉字,还有了气走中文老师的“前科”,但自从开始上中文学校,便适应极快,成绩一飞冲天。

但是,在此时他的混血身份反而成了累赘,异于周围的外貌也不过是在提醒别人他的特殊。



在那个风云激荡的年代,家庭成分是很重要的,他的瑞士血统注定不够“红”。

因此,门门科目接近满分的他却无缘心仪已久的清华大学,阴差阳错转入北京石油学院,也就是中国石油大学设置的二级学院。

此后,他投身石油科研,成了现在众多中石油学子口中的“最帅校友”。



在大学五年中,他成绩极其优异,每门功课都能拿5分,还是校运动队的主力队员,全校三名模范学生之一。



可惜,他的这些努力抵不过时代的阻力和命运的拨弄。

于是一毕业,身为高材生的他被分配到大庆油田的基层测量组,参加一些日常的琐碎工作。

如果不是自己始终细心钻研,加上单位惜才,一颗明珠恐怕就此埋没。



不仅如此,在特殊时期,他还因此被批斗,大字报上写满了对他的构陷,甚至还波及了王德民的妻子。

面对突如其来的争斗,妻子压力可想而知,长期精神状况不佳,久而久之发展成了躁郁症,这种情绪病在发病时易怒,有攻击性,攻击的对象只有一个,就是丈夫王德民。

无计可施,王德民只好搬出自己的家,和妻子分居,以求能安稳病症,可是一个往日和谐快乐的四口之家,也就支离破碎。

坎坷半生,大起大落,处处受限,竟然多半缘于这张英俊的脸,美貌有时是原罪。

03.潜心科研,荣膺院士

假如普通人受到这么多不公待遇,也许很容易就一蹶不振,自暴自弃了。

可是王德民凭着一片赤诚之心硬生生在苦寒的东北坚持下来了:从基层做起,反而给了他揣摩观察的机会,出类拔萃的工作能力更是不久引起了单位的注意,调到了科研岗位让他专心研究。



日积月累的观察,王德民总结出了一套至今还在应用的测算公式“松辽法”,领先于世界。

大庆油田有铁人王进喜,王德民也因此有了“知识铁人”的称号,还曾经作为先进代表接受过邓小平的接见。



除了学术研究,王德民注重实地考察,常常能见到他在严寒的工作环境中考察研究,天天和工人抬着绞车上井测压,一天要测十多口井,侧重的机器一百多公斤,全靠人力拉动测量。

到了冬天,更是要脱了棉袄,用自己的体温融化上冻的机器。在后期还常常不辞舟车劳顿,在全国各地作学术分享会,有“石油界的演说家”之称。

1994年,王德民当选为中国工程院院士。

几十年来,王德民院士潜心科研,功勋卓著,是油气田开发工程专家,中国油田分层开采和化学驱油技术的奠基人。



为了表彰他在中国石油开采方面的贡献,经国际小行星中心命名委员会批准,王德民获得国际编号为210231号小行星命名为“王德民星”的崇高荣誉。



挫折的经历磨练了他的意志,半生曲折,他却从未有过丝毫抱怨。

在王德民学术成果有所成时,不少外国人慕名而来,想要高薪挖走他。而王德民却一一拒绝了这些请求,如是说道:“和国外比,我的工资不算高,但足够我用。”



甚至就算是自己应有的享受也不接受,比如作为院士,一年一度公费旅游从来都不去。

安于清贫,好学乐道,如此气节,怎能不让人折服呢!

当然,王院士倒也不是顽固不化的苦行僧,比如他还有两则轶事流传在外。

一是当年因为外表出众,追求者甚多,他对女朋友提出两个要求:一是不能去公园约会;二是不能打扰自己看书。

这……完全就是无心恋爱的表现啊,浇灭了多少女孩的芳心。

结果工作之后,单位男多女少,适婚年龄到了,很多同事等不及,都纷纷凑合结婚。

王德民心气高,一直拖着,直到未来的夫人来到厂里,活泼可爱,穿着洋气,一下子吸引了王德民的眼光。有意追求,又不好意思,还是后来单位组织一场舞会开启情缘。



二是有一次过年发了白面猪肉等,想让员工们自己包饺子吃。结果王院士两耳不闻窗外事,一心工作,又厨艺不精,干脆把所有材料包成两个特大号饺子。

王院士这波操作真是够萌够可爱了。



结语

按照现在的网络流行语来形容王院士:明明可以靠脸吃饭,可他偏偏靠才华。

年轻时的王德民院士剑眉星目,气宇轩昂,让偶像剧中的男主有了脸。我们羡慕和赞叹他的优越长相,但更钦佩他为祖国石油事业所作的杰出贡献。



国士无双,为国为民。

王德民院士现任东北石油大学的博士生导师,为石油教育事业尽职尽责,比起他严谨的科研精神、丰硕的科研成果和崇高的人格魅力,颜值又算得了什么呢!
