It took half a month for the magistrate to try the case, beat Xi Fangping up, and sent him back to the City God for review. He also sued the palace of the king of hell, accusing the government officials and the city god of corruption. The two officials were frightened, so they negotiated with Xi Fangping and promised him a thousand dollars, as long as he didn't sue. Xi Fangping refused. The two officials took money to bribe Hades.

When Hades tried Xi Fangping's case, without saying a word, he hit 20 boards when he came up. Xi Fangping sneered: "I deserve the beating, who made me have no money!" The King of Hades, aware of his intentions, chased him back and made a deal with him: "Your father's injustice has been avenged, and he has been entrusted to a wealthy family. Now I will give you a daughter's family fortune and a hundred-year lifespan. You should be satisfied, right?" .” It was also written in the book of life and death, stamped with a big seal for him to see. He thanked him and left the hall. The little ghost sent him out of the palace of Hades, came to a village and a family, pushed him, and he turned into a baby. He was so angry that he didn't eat or drink, and died in three days. When his soul met His Royal Highness the Nine Kings of the Jade Emperor, he told him what happened from beginning to end. Jiu Wang told him to go with the car.

After walking to the mansion of Erlang God, he followed Erlang God to the Hall of the King of Hell, and then the prisoner was filled in the wooden cage, namely the King of Hell, the magistrate, and the city god. Erlang verified that the facts of corruption were correct, and quickly made a verdict: The King of Hades needs to wash his intestines with water from the Xijiang River, and burn an iron bed to invite you into the urn; A certain man was rich and heartless, with the smell of copper stink, confiscated his family property, and rewarded Xi Fangping for his filial piety. Xi Fangping's father granted Yangshou 36 years.

《聊斋志异》还有一个很著名《席方平》，讲的是不屈不挠地上访，终于平冤昭雪的故事：席方平的父亲与富户羊某结怨，羊某先死了。过了几年席父病危，临死前告诉家人，羊某贿赂阴间鬼差，用鞭子打他呢。看着父亲凄惨死状，席方平悲痛难忍，魂灵就到了地府，见到父亲，父亲说每天都被鬼差鞭打，两腿都残废了。

席方平就写了状子投到城隍庙。城隍被买通，根本不理他；他就又写了状子到府官，告城隍营私舞弊。府官过了半个月才审案，把席方平打了一顿，批回城隍复审。他又告到阎王殿，控告府官和城隍贪腐。俩官员害怕了，找席方平谈条件，许给他千金，只要他不告。席方平拒绝。俩官员就拿钱去贿赂阎王。

阎王审理席方平案，二话不说，上来就打二十板子。席方平讥讽：“挨打活该，谁让我没钱呢！”阎王火了，命令炮烙火刑伺候。席方平被烙得全身焦黑被带上堂来，阎王问他，“还敢告状吗？”席方平说：“凡是所受的冤枉，都要告。”阎王便继续给他上刑，命令小鬼把他身子锯成两半儿。

俩行刑的小鬼佩服他顽强，商量走偏一点，不要锯坏他的心。他疼得要死，小鬼解下一条带子给他捆在腰上，缓解他的痛苦。他又被带到堂上，阎王问他：“还告吗？”他怕再受酷刑，就说：“不告了。”阎王就派小鬼把他押回阳界。他盘算着再到哪里去告，据说灌口二郎神聪明正直，还是玉皇大帝的亲戚，可以找他去告。

阎王察觉到他的意图，又把他追回来，跟他讲条件：“你父亲的冤枉昭雪了，已托生到富贵人家。现在送你千金的家业，百岁的寿命，你该满意了吧。”还写在生死簿上，盖了大印让他看。他谢了恩就下了大殿。小鬼送他出阎王殿，来到一个村庄一户人家，把他推了一把，他就变成婴儿了。他气得不吃不喝，三天就死了，魂灵遇到玉皇的九王殿下，就把他的遭遇从头到尾地讲了一遍。九王就叫他跟了车子一起走。

走到二郎神的府邸，又跟着二郎神来到阎王殿，然后木笼里就装了犯人，分别是阎王、府官、城隍。二郎核实贪腐事实无误，很快下判决：阎王需要用西江水洗肠，烧铁床请君入瓮；府官城隍剔去骨髓，刮去皮毛，暂在阴间执行死刑；衙役断去手脚，投入汤锅；羊某为富不仁，铜臭熏天，抄没家产，奖赏席方平的大孝。席方平父亲赐阳寿36年。

真是一幅黑暗官府全景，衙役受贿，下狠手整治席父，让金主满意；城隍受贿，保持基层官员的文明，只是不受理，还不敢打人；府官受贿，就敢打人了，官大脾气长，批回城隍复审真是个愚民游戏，这游戏保留到现在，居然形成制度；阎王受贿，变成真正的黑社会老大，直接上酷刑，行刑一轮问一轮，还告不告了？见势不妙，也能妥协送大礼给对方。

阎王虽然凶狠，但没对席方平斩尽杀绝永绝后患，也是一念之仁，有很多顾忌在里面。一般人的顽强也就到此为止了，可是席方平不一样，大清官跟前还没试试呢。二郎神的出现举足轻重，身居高位不爱钱只是一方面，必须是皇亲国戚，才能无所畏惧。

假如世上没有二郎神，有也见不到，席方平又怎么办呢？
