Cheung Chi-chao's acquittal case retried张志超再审无罪案

On January 10, 2005, a girl from the Second Middle School Branch of Linshu County, Shandong Province suddenly disappeared. One month later, at 14:04 on February 11, a teacher of the school reported to the police: "When the dormitory management staff were cleaning the school, they found a dead body in a closed toilet on the third floor on the west side of the teaching building. ". After receiving the police, the Linshu County Public Security Bureau reported to the Municipal Public Security Bureau and the County Political and Legal Committee respectively, and rushed to the scene with the county procuratorate, and determined that the body was that of a girl named Gao who had been missing for more than a month. According to the testimonies of Yang Mouzhen and Wang Mobo, the first-year senior students of the school, the police believe that Zhang Zhichao, a student of the school, is suspected of committing a major crime. On March 6, 2006, the Linyi Intermediate People's Court ruled that "Zhang Zhichao committed the crime of rape and was sentenced to life imprisonment and deprivation of political rights for life."

In 2011, Zhang Zhichao suddenly complained during a meeting with his mother Ma Yuping, claiming that he had been tortured to extract a confession. From then on, Ma Yuping began to appeal for her son everywhere. On November 16, 2017, the Supreme People's Court decided to retry Zhang Zhichao's case and ordered the Shandong Provincial Higher People's Court to form a collegiate panel to retry the case. On December 5, 2019, the Zhang Zhichao case was heard in private by the Higher People's Court of Shandong Province. After more than 4 hours of trial, the prosecutors who appeared in court believed that the facts of the case were unclear and the evidence was insufficient. The court did not pronounce a sentence in court. On January 13, 2020, the Higher People's Court of Shandong Province pronounced a verdict on the retrial of Zhang Zhichao's case, and Zhang Zhichao was acquitted.

2005年1月10日，山东省临沭县第二中学分校一名女生突然失踪。一个月后，2月11日14时04分，该校一名老师报案称：“宿管科工作人员在校内打扫卫生时，在教学楼西侧三楼一停用的厕所内发现一具尸体”。接警后，临沭县公安局分别报告市公安局、县政法委，并汇同县检察院赶赴现场，认定此尸体是已失踪一个多月的女生高某。根据该校高一学生杨某振和王某波等人的证词，警方认为该校学生张志超有重大作案嫌疑。2006年3月6日，临沂中院判决“张志超犯强奸罪，判处无期徒刑，剥夺政治权利终身”。

2011年，张志超在与母亲马玉萍的一次会见中突然开口喊冤，称自己遭到刑讯逼供。从此，马玉萍开始为儿子四处申诉。2017年11月16日，最高人民法院决定再审张志超案，指令山东省高级人民法院另行组成合议庭对该案进行再审。2019年12月5日，张志超案由山东省高级人民法院进行了不公开审理，经过4个多小时的审理，出庭的检察员认为案件事实不清、证据不足，检方提出疑罪从无，但法院未当庭宣判。2020年1月13日，山东省高级人民法院对张志超案再审宣判，张志超无罪释放。
