Back to yourself. Observe yourself.
Back to yourself. Observe yourself.
This is why I said earlier that self-observation is a particularly interesting and extraordinary thing.
After doing this for a while,
You can continue without any difficulty,
For, when illusions begin to shatter,
You begin to know things that cannot be described in words,
It's called joy.
Everything changes, you become "addicted" to awareness.
There is a story that says——
A disciple went to the master and asked, "Concerning wisdom, can you give me a piece of advice that can guide me all day long?"
That day was Master's silent day, so he picked up a post-it note and wrote: "Awareness".
The apprentice looked at it and said, "This is too brief. Can you say more?"
So the master took back the note paper and wrote: "Awareness, awareness, awareness."
The apprentice said, "Yes, but what does it mean?"
Master took back the sticky note and wrote: "Awareness, awareness, awareness means—awareness."
This is what self-observation means. No one can show you how to do it. If someone can show you a trick, they are programming you.
01
observe yourself
When you talk to someone, are you aware of the conversation or are you just stuck in the conversation?
When you get mad at someone, are you aware that you are mad or do you just identify with your anger?
When you have time, do you study what you've been through and try to understand it? Where did that come from? What does it bring out?
I don't know any other way of awareness, you just change your understanding. What you do not understand and what you are not aware of is what you are repressing. You haven't changed. But when you understand, the whole scenario changes.
Sometimes people ask me, "Is this growth in awareness gradual? Or does it happen like a 'wow'?" Some lucky people catch it in a flash, and they start to realize.
There are others who have been growing in it, slowly, gradually increasing awareness. They begin to see the essence of things. Illusions come off, dreams are stripped away, and they come into contact with the truth. There are no hard and fast rules.

Let out your "lion's roar"
There is a famous story about a lion approaching a herd of sheep, and was surprised to find a lion among the sheep. That lion was raised by sheep since he was a child. It bleats like a sheep and runs like a sheep.
The lion went straight to it, and when the sheep-lion stood in front of the real lion, it was trembling all over.
The lion said to it, "Why are you hanging out with the sheep?"
The sheep and lion said, "I am a sheep."
The Lion said, "Oh, you are not. Come with me!"
So it took the sheep and lion to the pond and said, "Look!"
When the sheep-lion saw its own reflection in the water, it let out a roar, and it was transformed in an instant. It will never be the same again.
If you are lucky and God is kind, or you are blessed with divine grace (express it in any theological way you want), you may suddenly understand who "I" is, and you will It's not the same you anymore, never will be.
Nothing can touch you, no one can hurt you, and you will no longer be afraid of anyone or anything. That's really unusual, isn't it? You will live like a king, like a queen. That's what it's like to live like royalty, not some crap with your picture in the paper or lots of money.
You are not afraid of anyone, because even if you are nobody, you are completely content. You don't care about success or failure, that means nothing; honor, disgrace, they mean nothing...
03
Awareness makes you more powerful! Some people reach this goal painstakingly, step by step, through years of self-awareness.
But I will assure you this: I have never seen a person spend weeks on awareness and fail to be different.
The quality of their lives has changed, so they don't have to rely on faith alone to believe in the power of awareness. They see themselves differently.
In fact, they acted less reflexively and more proactively. You see things you've never seen before. You will become vastly more energetic, alive.
People usually think that if they don't have lust anymore, they will become like rotten wood, but in fact they just lost their tension. Remove the fear of failure, the tension of success, and you will be who you really are.

But in fact they just lose their tension, take away the fear of failure, the tension of success, and you will be who you really are. You can't drive with the brakes on.
A great sage in China, Master Tanxu, said a very wonderful sentence, which I took great pains to remember. Here's what he said: "When an archer is practicing for no reward, he is at his best; when he is shooting for a brass hat button, he is nervous; He was blinded when he shot the arrow with the gold medal, saw two targets, and was confused. His skill did not change, but the prize divided him. He cared about winning or losing! He thought more about winning than about shooting arrows, and The need to win drained his energy." Isn't that the image of most people? When you're not living for anything, you have all your skills, you have all your energy, you're relaxed, you don't care, it doesn't matter if you win or lose.
In awareness you will understand that honor is meaningless. It is a social convention, nothing more. That's why theologians and prophets don't pay any attention to it. Honor and shame meant nothing to them. They live in another world, in the awakened world. Success or failure means nothing to them. Their attitude is, "I'm shit, and you're shit, so what's the problem?"
The hardest things for man are not physical feats or intellectual feats. Rather, love the hate you receive; embrace the rejects; admit you were wrong...
These are the easiest things to do in a world where you no longer identify with yourself as "me." You can say "I was wrong! If you knew me better, you'd see how fallible I am. What do you expect from a shit?" Initially, the old limitations still beat you, and you get frustrated and Anxiety, you will be sad, cry, etc. "Before enlightenment, I was depressed; after enlightenment, I continued to be depressed." But the difference is: I don't identify with it anymore. Do you know what a huge difference that is?
Come out of your ego and stop calling it your own
You don't do anything to make it go; you are perfectly willing to move on with your life and it will pass you by and disappear. If you don't understand what that means, you can really expect something. When anxiety comes, you don't bother about it. How strange! You are anxious but you are not troubled.
Does that contradict itself? You will be willing to let this fog get closer, because the more you fight it, the more energy you give it. You will want to watch it go by. You can be joyful in your anxiety. Is that crazy? You can rejoice in your depression. But you cannot have the wrong idea of joy. Do you think joy is excitement or excitement? That's what causes depression. Has no one ever told you this? You're excited, that's fine, but you're setting yourself up for the next depression. Your excitement also carries the anxiety behind it: How can I keep this feeling going? That's not joy, that's addiction.
I wonder how many people are not addicted? If you're anything like everyone else, the chances of you not being addicted are very, very small. Don't turn your nose up at people who are addicted to alcohol or drugs: maybe you are just as addicted as they are. When I got my first glimpse of this new world, it was terrifying. I understand that to mean being alone, with no place to rest your head, leaving everyone free and free yourself, treating no one in particular and loving everyone - because that's what love is. It shines on both good and bad; it rains on saints and sinners alike.
You focus on what you don't have, ignoring all that is in the present moment that allows you to have bliss
These are always there, looking at us in our faces from the scriptures, even though we never cared to see it, because we are so addicted to what our culture calls love in love songs and poems— — that is not love at all, that is the opposite of love. That is the desire to control and possess; that is manipulation, fear, anxiety -- that is not love. Joy, we are told, is a comfortable plot, a sanctuary. And real joy is none of these things, but we have all sorts of subtle ways of making our joy depend on something else, inside or outside of us. There is only one reason why you haven't experienced that which in India we call ANAND (Bliss) until now, and that is because your thoughts are always around what you don't have.
You can't drive with the brakes on.
